Diálogo de la Lengua is a research journal focused on Spanish linguistics. Its principal objective is the publication of scientific articles related to this field. However, this journal was also created with the idea of being a forum for the presentation and diffusion of other types of materials related to Spanish linguistics. In order to achieve this purpose, it includes the Instrumenta studorium section as well as the Linguarium Project.

Diálogo de la Lengua is an open access on-line refereed journal published annually. Original research articles and critical state of the art papers can be submitted to be considered for publication. Manuscripts must be written in either Spanish or English. All submissions go through a double-blind peer review process. Prior to submission, authors must format their article to fit the article submission guidelines on the journal's webpage.

Diálogo de la Lengua is focused on the following topics related to Spanish: bilingualism, dialectology, discourse analysis, historical linguistics, L1 and L2 acquisition, lexicography and lexicology, linguistic historiography, morphology, phonetics, phonology, pragmatics, Romance linguistics, semantics, sociolinguistics, syntax, and textual criticism.
